Atlantic City strip clubs: first-time visitor guide

Atlantic City's two most famous adult venues are gone. Delilah's Den, for years the default recommendation, closed and its Pacific Avenue building was auctioned and sold for redevelopment. Scores, which operated inside the former Trump Taj Mahal, closed in 2020 when the property became Hard Rock.

This matters because most of the advice online predates both closures. If a listicle or forum post recommends either, it is out of date, and you should assume everything else in it is too. What remains is a small cluster of venues on and around South Carolina Avenue, plus drive-to options outside the Boardwalk core.

New Jersey does not permit liquor-licence holders to operate as fully nude venues. Clubs therefore pick a lane: hold a liquor licence and run a topless or bikini format, or drop the licence and run BYOB with all-nude entertainment. Most New Jersey all-nude clubs take the BYOB route, which is why Atlantic City's adult nightlife looks unusual to visitors from other states.

Practically, BYOB means you buy your own bottle before you arrive. Buy it earlier in the evening than you think — you do not want to be hunting for an open liquor store at midnight with a group waiting. Venues may charge for setups, ice or mixers; none of the venues we track publish those charges.

Photo ID, always. Every venue that publishes an age policy states 21 and over, and door staff card aggressively in a casino town.

Cash, decided in advance. Cover charges are collected at the door, private entertainment is paid directly, and tipping is constant rather than occasional. In-house ATMs at adult venues typically charge fees well above a bank's, so pulling your budget out beforehand saves money and hard-caps your spend.

There are up to five separate charges in a night: door cover, setups or drinks, tips to entertainers on the floor, private entertainment priced per song or per block of time, and VIP room charges or spend minimums. They are separate, and paying one does not cover another.

No Atlantic City venue we track publishes any of these amounts, so we do not print estimates. Ask at the door for cover, and ask for the total price rather than the hourly rate before agreeing to anything in a VIP room.

The rules below are close to universal across US adult venues and worth knowing before you walk in — but individual venue policies vary and the staff's word is the only version that counts.

The Boardwalk-area venues that publish hours open at 8:00 PM and close at 4:00 AM on weeknights, and as late as 6:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. Midweek hours are frequently not published at all, which usually means the schedule is variable — call before travelling on a Monday or Tuesday.

Atlantic City nightlife runs late relative to its dinner hour. If your group is eating at a casino restaurant at 7:00 PM, you are going to be early for everything. Plan a bar or a show in between.

The South Carolina Avenue cluster is walkable from the Boardwalk hotel corridor, which is its main practical advantage. If you are staying in the Marina District at Borgata, Harrah's or Golden Nugget, you are driving, taking a jitney or taking a rideshare in both directions.

Jitneys run in Atlantic City around the clock, which matters more than it sounds at closing time. Rideshare is available but surges at 4:00 AM on weekends when every venue in the city empties at once.
